2nd time here at Payung. The campsite is well maintained, very clean and well equipped. Camp owners are very friendly too. Brought our cats along and they enjoyed the outdoors. There's a few resident dogs n cats but they're very well behaved. Something to consider when camping here is the winds can get quite strong so make sure you have sand pegs else your tent may fly away. If you cook here, it'll attract flies so if that bothers you, can prepare some fly traps. There's a hot water heater in the bathrooms, bidet equipped toilets, and they're cleaned everyday.

Amazing place for both experienced and beginner campers. Second trip in two months, the entire site was really clean. Whilst the toilets and showers were basic, one shouldn’t expect five star luxury at a campsite. Had issues with sandflies on both trips, will be better prepared the next time. Tip: Dome shelters are easier to pitch and put up than fly sheets and tarps in strong wind. Ensure you have sand pegs or really long (30cm or more) tent stakes lest you risk your tent / shelter flying away. If you’re cooking, make sure you have a sturdy windshield and extra gas canisters as it will take significantly more fuel to cook in windy conditions. Nights can be quite still, so fans are a must.

The management team has changed, and the new one is friendly and easy-going. Personally, I like the campsite; the view is fantastic. It offers a better sea view and a river view at the back. The campsite also provides activities like kayaking and catching clams. The space is not crowded. Pets around. Overall, it's a memorable site.

This is a bit of a delayed review, but I still wanted to share my experiences since I've been to this campsite twice — once in mid-2023 and again in May 2024. The first time, I rented a regular camping lot and set up my own tent. The second time, we brought our RV and rented a camper car lot. I really love this place. Willie and his partner are super warm and welcoming. They checked on us and the other campers every morning, which made us feel right at home. The facilities are decent. The toilets were clean, nothing fancy, but what you'd expect at a camping site. Everything worked fine, which was good enough for us. There’s a hot shower in the first shower room, though it affects the water pressure a bit, but the other two showers were fine. The common area has all the basics — plug points, sinks for washing up, and a lounging area. During our second visit, we got a powered site, which made it easy to charge our RV. This new addition was really convenient. The best part of this campsite is definitely the view. It's right on Cherating Beach, so you can sleep under the stars and wake up to the sound of waves and a beautiful sunrise. There's also a river at the back of the site for some sightseeing and simple activities. The campsite is gated, which keeps it peaceful on busy weekends. But the beach is public, so it can get a bit crowded during peak times, which is a minor downside. Overall, both of my visits were great. I had a fantastic time and look forward to returning.

Opted for the option of renting their tent and utilities etc, everything was as expected for camping experience. Foo (hope i got his name right) was super friendly and helpful!! Even gave us a spot under the shade. Location is great with beach view. Only downside is you cant have too loud music even though there’s no other campers there etc as the other part of the campside has private residence. Other than that all good! My dogs enjoyed their time there too! Swimming at the river behind the camp and you can even dig for clams and eat them! Highlight was there was a fireworks happening at the royale chulan at the other side of the beach which we had a view of! Beautiful!
